On 03 August, Copa Airlines began direct flights from Panama City, Panama, to Villahermosa, Mexico and on 04 August flights to Puebla, Mexico. Villahermosa and Puebla are the airline’s 5th and 6th destinations in Mexico, increasing Copa’s connectivity in the region.
The airline operates the Panama-Villahermosa route three times a week, and the Panama-Puebla route four times weekly. The new Copa routes provide passengers with enhanced travel options: direct flights, recognized world-class service, the best connectivity in Latin America through Panama’s “Hub of the Americas”, and the best on-time performance in Latin America.
Villahermosa, located in the state of Tabasco, is considered the major connection point between the center and southeast of Mexico, facilitating access to the Cancun and Chiapas regions of Mexico, and to Central America.
Puebla, located in the state of the same name and near the Popocatepetl volcano, is the fourth most populated city of Mexico with some 2.7 million inhabitants. Puebla is known for its cultural and historical heritage, making it an ideal tourist destination.
Copa Airlines will operate an Embraer-190 aircraft on both routes, with seating for 94 passengers, 10 in business class and 84 in the main cabin.
With the new destinations, Copa Airlines operates more than 100 flights a week to Mexico: 14 from Bogota, Colombia and more than 90 from Panama. Currently Copa Airlines offers nonstop flights to Mexico City, Cancun, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Villahermosa and Puebla, making Copa the leader in airline connectivity between Latin America and Mexico.
